Did You Know...
  • The placement of objects in the road right-of-way is a misdemeanor as stipulated by Minnesota State Statute 160.27. This is a hazard for utility companies, road ditch maintenance personnel and to the driving public.
  • It is also a liability for both the property owner and the Township.
  • The right-of-way must be kept free of all structures.
Structures include such things as sprinkler heads, fences, rocks, and retaining walls.
  • If the removal of such a structure is necessary for maintenance of utilities, the cost of removal is the responsibility of the affected property owner. Furthermore, if any encroachment in the right of way is damaged it is not the responsibility of the Town to make reimbursement for the value of the structure.
  • Driveways, constructed on Town roads must have a minimum 12’ top and include a 12” diameter, 16 gauge metal culvert installed at the ditch bottom. The minimum length of the culvert must be 30’ plus aprons.
  • Please consider that your driveway should be wide enough to accommodate any type of emergency vehicle that could possibly need to access your property. Modern fire trucks cannot negotiate tight turns onto a narrow driveway.

BURN PERMITS AVAILABLE

Burning permits can be obtained from the Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. There is no fee for the 10-day permit. Burning of piled, vegetative material can be done between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. Because of the unusually dry conditions this summer, please be aware that a burning ban could be placed at any time. Please also remember that spring restrictions and possible burning bans will be an annual event. All residents are urged to do the majority of their burning when we have snow cover. This will minimize the danger and avoid the inconvenience of not getting the spring cleanup completed before the restriction goes into place.
